Sound was awful--
The sound engineer or sound system sucked, unfortunately for the fans of the Gene Simmons Band. It wasn't until the 4th song that Steve's guitar finally became clear and a bit louder - isn't that what a "sound check" is for? Gene's vocals were muddy all night, and the bass and snare were never even in the mix. The sound guy was sweating bullets all night long, and the entire audience suffered for it. The tickets were a birthday gift to my husband, and I felt really bad for him. Sad to say, that is the first time my husband or I had actually seen Gene Simmons Band in concert, and we were terribly disappointed. For the $$, I would've stayed home. We were sitting 2 seats from the front of the house booth, almost in the middle of the entire venue, which should've been a sweet spot - and it wasn't because of where we were sitting. Sad thing is, he's a professional bass player, so we both know what a show of this caliber should sound like. We'd been to the REO/Styx show just a couple of weeks ago, and, not that we preferred that music over this show, the sound was SO MUCH BETTER. Go figure-- anyway, I appreciate the opportunity to shed some light on a problem that could easily be fixed. If that show was taped and Gene Simmons Band saw/heard it, I sure don't think he'd be very happy either. Let's not screw it up, St. Augustine. Get it together - we have a beautiful venue!
